Fun Ways to Exercise

Exercising is difficult, especially if your idea of exercising only involves heading to the gym and putting in hours of work on the machines or free weights. Exercising is more than just the gym, and there are more fun ways to get the exercise your body needs! In this week's Brookwood Blog, we’ve got a few suggestions on fun ways you can get some exercise this summer in Tucson, AZ.

Sports

Exercise is easy when you’re having fun, and what greater way to have fun than by playing some sports? Whether it’s tennis, volleyball, basketball, soccer or more, these sports are going to get your blood pumping and your muscles working. Depending on the sport, you’re going to get some cardiovascular exercise and strengthen your core and back muscles. Sports are a fun way to get exercise because you can get caught up in the fun and it seems less like work and more like play!

Hiking

Whether you stay in Tucson or head out to somewhere outside of the city limits, there are many places to hike! Hiking is a cardiovascular workout that can lower your risk of heart disease, improve blood pressure and build strength! It’s also a good way to get out of your apartment to see the beautiful world around you. Whether it’s a short hike to a waterfall, or up to mountain lakes, you’re going to be surrounded by picturesque scenery and nature!

Swimming

If you’re looking for a full body exercise, you shouldn’t look farther than the community pool. Swimming is a great way to get the blood flowing without the impact of regular exercise, it helps you build a stronger heart, muscle strength, and improved fitness. Remember to keep hydrated while you swim, perspiration happens during any form of exercise and your body loses water, it’s less noticeable when swimming because of the water, but that doesn’t mean you don’t need to keep hydrated!
